Nancy Adams. Executive Director of Pine Mountain Settlement School since 2002. Pine Mountain is an education and community center located in southeastern Kentucky, in northern Harlan County. It is a National Historic Landmark and home to the 348-acre James E. Bickford State Nature Preserve. A graduate of Maryville College with an M.A. in Journalism from Marshall University. Currently serves on the board of Preservation Kentucky. Previous board member of Appalshop and Lincoln Primary Care Center.

Joel Beverly. Environmental engineer and entrepreneur based in Whitesburg, Kentucky. Owner of Apogee Environmental Consultants and Summit City, a restaurant and music venue. A native of Perry County, Joel is active in development issues in Appalachian Kentucky.

Corey Craig. Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Bank in Mt. Vernon. Former president of Community Trust Bank. B.S. in Business Administration from Berea College-1997. Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University, 2003. Chairman of Rockcastle County Industrial Authority and Economic Development Board. Serve on the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Museum Inc. Board of Directors. Serves on the Cumberland Valley Area Development District Board of Directors.

Ron Eller. Former director of the Appalachian Center and Professor of History at the University of Kentucky where he coordinates research and service programs on a wide range of Appalachian policy issues. A former Rockefeller Foundation Scholar, Dr. Eller holds the Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is author of the award-winning book Miners, Millhands and Mountaineers: The Industrialization of the Appalachian South. His latest book is Uneven Ground.

Peter Hille. Director of Brushy Fork Institute since 1994. Conducted community development workshops nationally and internationally in Russia and Slovakia. Focuses on building collaborative networks of diverse organizations serving the Appalachian region. A 1977 graduate of Swarthmore College. Background includes experience in grassroots environmental organizing and small business management.

Justin Maxson. President of MACED since 2002, previously MACED vice-president. Former executive director of the Progressive Technology Project, a national grant making and technical assistance organization working to strengthen grassroots social change efforts through the strategic use of technology. Prior experience on MACED staff as director of community development for Letcher County Action Team.

Tom Miller. Graduate of Marietta College, Marietta Ohio, 1968. Arthur Andersen and Company CPA certification, 1972. President of Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation 1973–1983. Director of Program Related Investments and Assistant Representative with the Ford Foundation serving in United States and developing countries from 1983–1997. Consultant in the United States and East Africa 1997–2004.

Gerry Roll. Executive director of Community Foundation of Hazard & Perry County. Executive director of Hazard-Perry County Community Ministries from 1991–2009; a community development organization building accessible early care and education, housing and health care systems in southeastern Kentucky. Graduate of Barry University, Miami Florida, 1990.
