A newcomer to town wanted to purchase an existing laundromat. Through a loan from MACED, the individual was able to buy the business, remove a leaky gas boiler, replace it with two natural gas powered instantaneous water heaters and save more than $300 on the gas bill in the first month since completing the retrofit.
The same borrower also was able to purchase an energy efficient triple-loader washer because of the MACED loan. Savings from this machine include savings on electricity, water and sewer costs as well as faster cycle times for customers because the new machine's spin cycle wrings the water out of the clothes so well that less dryer time is needed. Savings recorded through a data logger are indicated to the left.
With a monthly debt payment to MACED of $321.00, and monthly gas savings of $318 as well as savings on electricity, demand, water and sewer totaling $12.45 per 100 cycles, the business owner is now improving her profit.
